RFID Solutions Center Expands Services Portfolio with EPC Certification and Two New RFID Training Courses

EPCglobal-Accredited Center Grows to Support Increased Demand from Customers and RFID Solution Providers

October 2, 2007 – Morgan Hill, CA — Alien Technology®, an industry leader in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) products and services, today announced the expansion of training courses and professional services at the RFID Solutions Center in Dayton, Ohio (RSC). The RSC is a division of Alien Technology and is an EPCglobal-accredited performance test center (EPC-PTC).

The RSC comprises of over 21,000 square feet of educational research and development, and real-world implementation resources designed to enable the global RFID community to learn, collaborate, pilot, and implement RFID systems. The RSC is available to enterprises, government agencies and their partners, and is one of only two commercially available EPCglobal-accredited performance test centers in the United States. In addition to services, RSC offers RFID training with the Alien® Academy to government, business, the Department of Defense (DoD) and solutions providers. More than 3000 people from over 700 companies have received training and services support from the RSC and the Alien Academy.

“As an accredited Performance Test Center, the RFID Solution Center is able to perform conveyor and dock door RFID performance testing for customers and partners, and certify the results with the EPCglobal stamp,” said Damon Bramble, General Manager, RFID Solutions Center Dayton. “We are expanding the training course offerings for customers and solutions providers in response to demand for RFID expertise, including CompTIA certification.”

The RSC is offering EPCglobal-certified Applied Tag Performance Testing to help companies ensure the readability of their EPC/RFID-tagged goods as they move through key points of the global supply chain. Certification involves dynamic conveyor portal testing and dynamic dock door portal testing.

Professional services at the RFID Solutions Center include: technical consulting; project management; site surveys and spectrum analysis; product packaging and tag placement; business process analysis; optimal antenna and reader location; antenna and reader orientation; system configuration; installation; technical support; and system maintenance.

New Alien Academy courses offered:

Existing training courses include: Combining interactive classroom participation, role-play challenges, and simulated warehouse, manufacturing and retail environments, the Alien Academy is an RFID-focused training and education program focused on helping customers grow to understand RFID best-practices. New special services pricing bundles are available for solutions integrators, valued added resellers, defense contractors and government agencies.
