Alien Technology® Announces RFID Ready Kit to Enable Compliance with Retail RFID Mandates
March 2, 2005, Morgan Hill, CA - Alien Technology today announced the Alien® RFID Ready Kit for Retail, a comprehensive product and service package to assist suppliers in preparing to meet retail mandates for RFID. The package includes Alien EPC RFID Readers, Antennas, and Tags, as well as the training, services and information needed for successful planning and deployment of RFID.
RFID Training & Services
Retail suppliers can get up to speed on RFID in the two-day intensive RFID Academy training course that provides high-value training in real world, hands-on application of RFID. After 2 years and 1,000 graduates, RFID Academy delivers comprehensive training on RFID from hardware and software, to retail use-case assessment and experimentation in the Alien Customer Solution Center. As a follow-up to RFID Academy, a day of Alien Professional Services is included to assure successful implementation of RFID in the field. This includes an overview of the retail compliance use case, performance metrics, and lessons learned. Together, retail suppliers and the Alien expert consultant can design an effective solution and implementation strategy which meet the constraints of the supplier's customers, operations, quality, budget, schedule and future needs.
RFID Products
Included in the RFID Ready Kit is an Alien Gen2 ReadyT Reader with option of the EPC Class 1 High-performance Package (ALR-9780), or EPC Class 0/1 Flexibility Package (ALR-9774). Both packages include 96-user-bit EPC Class 1 RFID labels, antennas and accessories. A Software Developers Kit provides thorough documentation including Hardware Setup Guide, Reader Interface Guide with API Definitions, and Hardware Technical Specifications. Sample source code is included, as are royalty-free Java, .NET and Visual Basic libraries.
Pricing and Availability
The ALR-9780 RFID Ready package is available for $6,990, and the ALR-9774 RFID Ready package is priced at $7,990. Both are currently available under standard terms and conditions.
