Alien Technology Products Pass EPCglobal Inc's Hardware Interoperability Test
MORGAN HILL, CA, September 8, 2004 - Alien Technology
Corporation, a leading global provider of Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID) products, announced today its successful participation in the EPCglobal
Hardware Interoperability testing. The testing is part of an effort by EPCglobal
IncT to document Electronic Product CodeT (EPC) and Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID) hardware interoperability within the EPCglobal community. EPCglobal
Inc, a joint venture of EAN International and the Uniform Code Council,
Inc. ® (UCC®), is a not-for-profit organization entrusted by industry to
establish and support the EPCglobal NetworkT as the global standard for
real-time, automatic identification of information in the supply chain of
any company, anywhere in the world.
The Hardware Interoperability testing evaluated the interoperability of
Alien's EPC Class 1 RFID tags and readers with those provided by other manufacturers.
MET Laboratories, a company that provides testing and consulting services
for electronic and wireless products, administered the test August 3-5 in
a controlled environment located in its Baltimore, Maryland facility on
behalf of EPCglobal. The interoperability test results for Alien Technology
are as follows: The Class 1 Alien ALR-9780 reader was interoperable with
the Alien ALL-9238 "Squiggle", ASK 001, Rafsec and ST Micro XRA00
tags. The Class 1 Alien ALR-9640 reader was interoperable with the Alien
ALL-9238 "Squiggle" and ST Micro XRA00 tags. The Alien ALL-9238
"Squiggle" tag was interoperable with the Datamax DMX-I-4210,
Datamax DMX-A-4212, Paxar 9855, Printronix SL5000e, Printronix FOX IV TECH
SLPA 7000e, Sato America CL408e, Sato America M-8485Se, Zebra R110PAX3 and
Zebra R4M PLUS printer encoders. The Alien ALL-9238 "Squiggle"
tag programmed on the devices above was also interoperable with the Alien
ALR-9780, Alien ALR-9640 and Samsys MP 9320-1 readers. For complete Hardware
